Café De Vili’s, a popular pie café in Adelaide’s north, has announced it will be closing its doors.

A poster on the Elizabeth-based store’s front door explained that trading will cease, and the company is in liquidation.

The franchisor of Café de Vili’s confirmed the bakery’s closure via social media, but also pointed out this store was not related to the family-owned Vili’s Bakery, and three other Café De Vili’s across Adelaide will remain open.

“The Company, Café 24/7 Pty Ltd trading as Café De Vili’s Elizabeth, was a licensed franchisee of Café De Vili’s. An entity unrelated to the ownership and operation of Vili’s Family Bakery,” Cafe De Vili’s announced on Facebook.

“We remain fully committed to providing you with the high-quality service and products you have come to expect from our other sites, at Mile End, Hillcrest, and Blair Athol.”

Vili’s Family Bakery has been committed to providing quality baked goods since 1968, when Vili Milisits first began creating pies in a small Adelaide bakery.

Over the years the company has grown substantially, now supplying quality bakery products internationally to Asia, Europe, and the Pacific.

Vili’s passing made news in 2021 with Premier Steven Marshall sharing sentiments.

“Vili and Rosemary have employed hundreds of South Australians and have generously given back to the community as proud supporters of charities, community sport, and the arts,” he said.

“Vili was a passionate businessman with a tremendous work ethic. He will be missed by many.”

His legacy has continued to be honoured in all his stores, and although the Adelaide north location has closed, Vili’s Family Bakery is sure to stay strong and continue to provide sweet and savoury items alongside their famous meat pie.
