In a busy few weeks of state shows for the Baking Association of Australia (BAA), bakers have converged on the new-look South Australian Baking Show at Food Tech Trade Show at the Adelaide Showgrounds, with full results now available.
Orange Spot Bakery, winner of last year’s Australia’s Best Hot Cross Bun competition, pulled in Champion Cake / Pastry of the Show as well as a host of other awards including first place in the categories of 4 x Fruit Scrolls, 3 x Iced Finger Buns, 3 x Iced Donuts, Pastie, Plain Meat Pie, Gourmet Pie, Ciabatta Loaf, 680gm Grain Loaf Condensed Square, and coming in second in the state hot cross bun comp – what a haul!
The state winner of the SA Best Hot Cross Bun was CJ’s Bakery (pictured), which also took home first place for 450gm Four Strand Plait, Gourmet Pull A Part Loaf, Sausage Roll, and Gateau.
The Village Bakery also featured prominently in the winners list, taking out Champion Loaf Of The Show.
