Rise Artisan Bakery in Nairne, South Australia will be closing their doors for good on Christmas Eve.

After five years of business, the family-owned bakery is scheduled to close after their landlords decided to against renewing the lease. The announcement was shared via social media on both Instagram and Facebook platforms.

The bakery had made a name for itself on Nairne’s main street as the unique location of a rustic former schoolhouse and church that set them apart. Owners Katherine and James Katsarelias, who also operate the Uraidla Bakery, shared their upset in the decision to close, mentioning it was ‘out of our hands’.

“For the last five years, our family have put our hearts and souls into this building and growing our small business. We are so sad to end the story here as we would have loved to continue on,” they wrote.

Although they are sad to say goodbye, Katherine and James said they are grateful for the support and love that the bakery has received over the years.

“We are feeling so grateful to have been a part of this amazing community and it’s been our absolute pleasure to have grown something truly special, with an amazing team of staff… and of course with all of your support,” they said.

“We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all the love you’ve all given us over the years.”

The bakery will officially close on December 24.
