Overloaded hot cross buns for a cause

Mooroopna Bakery in the Goulburn Valley, Victoria is aiming to raise $10,000 for the Good Friday Appeal with their overloaded variations of the hot cross bun in scrumptious flavour combos, Win News reports.

To reach their target, they need to sell 60,000 hot cross buns, so bakers are working four hours extra per day, with hours expecting to increase when it comes to crunch time to keep up with demand.

Bakery owner Bart Honig said the bakery has a lot of school fundraisers, as well as markets on the weekend, so they’re hopeful they can reach the target.

Apprentice baker Trevor Honig said the bakery has about 40 different flavours and aim to sell five to six different flavours each day.

Flavours include Golden Gaytime and Snickers with decadent piped fillings.

The Good Friday Appeal is an annual fundraising initiative for The Royal Childrens Hospital in Melbourne.
