The pie’s the limit

What was supposed to be a bit of tomfoolery in English football turned into a resignation by Sutton United’s keeper Wayne Shaw after he ate a pie on the bench during the 2-0 loss against Arsenal, while betting company Sun Bets had 8-1 odds on him eating the pie.

The Football Association and Gambling Commission launched investigations into the bet after Shaw said post-game he was aware of the bet as “a few of the lads” filled him in.

Sutton manager Paul Doswell said the decision about Shaw’s fate was made at board level and he is reportedly devastated by the stunt The pie’s the limit.
