South Australian bakery Orange Spot Bakery has made history after being named as the inaugural Official Great Aussie Pie Competition Grand Champion.

The Glenelg-based bakery was named as the competition’s grand champion on September 3, after they claimed two categories: the Meat Pastie and Plain Sausage Roll titles.

Held across four grueling days of judging, the Official Great Aussie Pie Competition was hugely popular once again.

Buddy Bakery Melton claimed the Overall Plain Pie title for their Chunky/Mince Pie, while Gisborne Bakery and Cafe was named runner-up. The Overall Gourmet Pie went to Rolling Pin Pies & Cakes for their Roo Rendang Pie, and the Overall Gourmet Sausage Roll trophy was won by Paul the Pieman Bakery for their jalapeno beef and cheese sausage roll.

The 37th Official Great Aussie Pie Competition was held as part of Fine Foods Australia at MCEC Sydney.
