Keen as a bean The Melbourne International Coffee Expo, now in its sixth year, is Asia Pacific’s largest specialty coffee event, held at the Melbourne Showgrounds on March 30 to April 1.
Almost 10,000 café owners, roasters, baristas, equipment manufacturers and service providers flock to the event annually to check out what’s brewing.
As well as sussing out the best Keen as a bean on the market and best machinery, there will be special features including the Sensory Lab Brew Bar, Australian Coffee Championships and the Australian International Coffee Awards.
Brand new to 2017, the Brewing Lounge will allow guests to recline and taste some of the competitors’ coffees in the Australian Coffee Championships, where the country’s best baristas will battle it out for a chance at the world championships.
Origin Alley is an old favorite, where people can meet the growers behind their favorite cup of coffee, or chat to a prospective new supplier.
Another first for the exhibition is their partnership with the Australian International Tea Expo, so visitors can suss out all of their hot beverage needs in one place.
