New kids on the block Croix Croissant have opened a second store, this time in the inner city Brisbane suburb of Newstead.
Originally from Melbourne, Croix Croissant first forged a name for themselves in Brisbane thanks to their innovative pastry options including pandan croissants, croissant cheeseburgers, lemon cheesecake cruffins, and Biscoff-infused crolls.
Rizka Krisnandika from Croix Croissant said they regularly heard about customers travelling large distances to buy one of their products.
“We’ve had a customer come in for our pistachio pearls from the Sunshine Coast,” she said to The Weekend Edition.
” We were sold out at the time, but I made a fresh batch right away for them.
Rizka told The Weekend Edition that the initial concept for Croix Croissant’s expansion across Brisbane included smaller satellite locations that would be serviced by their Hillcrest production kitchen. However the surge in popularity also resulted in a change of ideas.
“The demand in Hillcrest was more than we expected, so we just thought to find another place that had a bigger kitchen,” she said.
The Newstead location has enough space to construct a larger pastry kitchen, as well as seating for 30.
Riska said the new outfit was an unusual space to build a bakery, however it suited the Croix Croissant team perfectly.
“We make more quirky types of pastries. We’re not sophisticated – we’re not a French or European kind of boutique,” she said to The Weekend Edition.
“This location just ticked all the boxes.”
