Bakery chain Cinnabon has opened its first Far North Queensland store.

Located in Cairns Central Shopping Centre, the first store signal the bakery chains long-awaited move to the region.

Cairns store manager Suri Buenatura told Cairns Post Cairns had been on their list before COVID.

“Finally, after Covid settled and everything fell into place, we decided to start our Far North Queensland operations from Cairns and we will be expanding along the east coast all the way down to the Sunshine Coast,” he said.

Plans are already in motion for more Cinnabon stores within the region, including at Smithfield Shopping Centre and Cairns Airport to open in the next four months.

“We have received an enormous amount of love from Cairns. It was eye-watering just how successful the opening was for us,” Me Buenatura said.

“We love this place already.”

Mr Buenatura said the store would release a new flavour in-store each fortnight then, depending on the consumer response, would decide whether to keep it or move on to the next.

“…to ensure everyone has a good experience we’ve narrowed down the range,” he said to Cairns Post.

The bakery chain currently has stores in Queensland, NSW and Victoria
