Nominations are now open for 2025 ANZBAke Team Australia!

The competition, which was launched again earlier this year at the Baking Industry Trade Show, saw Tracy Nickl, Brad Burkitt and Jeremy Mavromatakis pit their skills against the team from New Zealand and walk away with the trophy.

The 2025 competition, which will be held at the Fine Foods Expo in Auckland, NZ, will see a different format take place.

Baking Association of Australia (BAA) executive officer Tony Smith said the 2025 ANZBake team would include a trade-qualified baker and pastry chef join forces with the 2024 Excellence in Baking winners Connor Beisler and William Nickl.

“People can nominate themselves for the team. We’re looking for trade qualified baker and pastry chef who are keen on competition and can work well under pressure,” he said.

“The competition will be stressful and intense and they’ll be working with an apprentice. [The trip to New Zealand] was William and Connor’s prize for winning the Excellence in Baking.”

Tony said each of the baking and pastry teams would have a chance to prepare together beforehand.

“They’ll work together and, obviously, they’ll have their own program.  The program will bring them together  on competition day,” he said.

Tony said past competition experience would be a vital component for nominations to be considered.

“As long as they’ve done some sort of competition before, they can nominate,” he said.

“On the application form they have to put down the details as part of the criteria.”

Further information about the competition as well as nomination forms are available on the BAA website.
