Sydneyβs famous Black Star Pastry has delighted Melbourne fans with the announcement on Instagram of a three-month Black Star pop-up store in Melbourne, beginning mid-February.
Owner and chef at Black Star Pastry Christopher ThΓ© told Australian Gourmet Traveller heβs had his eye on Melbourne for a while now.
βThanks to my mate James Meehan from CafΓ© Italia, the opportunity came up to use Italiaβs little unused kitchen,β he said.
βItβs a pop-up that might stick around for
a while.β
The space is quite small so the Melbourne store will be sticking to desserts initially, and Black Starβs executive chef Samuel Yeo will be moving to Melbourne to oversee the cake and coffee focus.
Melbournians can look forward to tucking into one of the most instagrammed cakes in the world, Black Starβs strawberry and watermelon cake (pictured), as well as their raspberry lychee cake, orange and Persian fig cake and black sesame and yuzu cake.
The Black Star online store will also be open to Melbournians, where customers can order full cakes.
