Banksia has done it again with this new flavour

Banksia Bakehouse is becoming well-known for its creative croissants, and has done it again with this new flavour sensation.

Since the Sydney CBD team posted the first pic of their new Baklava Croissant, it’s become an instant social media hit and customer favourite—and no wonder, with its tempting golden crisp outer shell of light and buttery croissant pastry and classic Baklava filling of almonds, walnuts, pistachios and honey lemon clove syrup with pistachio frangipane.

The inspiration behind their latest croissant creation came from their pastry chefs’ love of Baklava. “We thought it would be awesome to create something out of the two things they love—Baklava and croissants,” says Banksia Bakehouse’s Chris Sheldrick.

“Most people think of France and Paris as a home of pastries and baked sweets, but the Middle East has a long rich history of fantastic pastries and the Baklava is one of the most familiar to people and also one of our favourites as it uses a wonderful mix of wholesome ingredients of pistachio, walnuts and honey,” says Sheldrick.

Since opening last year, Banksia Bakehouse has made headlines across the baking and pastry industry with its ever-changing and growing menu of inspired flavours which have included lemon meringue, hazelnut and wattleseed, as well as its hot cross croissant and cramington.

The Baklava Croissant is available from Banksia Bakehouse, Grosvenor Place piazza, 225 George Street, Sydney, Monday to Friday from 10.30am, until sold out.
