The baking industry descended on the Gold Coast in June for the Baking Industry Trade Show and National Conference.
The Baking Industry Trade Show and National Conference headed to the Gold Coast Turf Club this year, and included exhibits, demos and Australia’s Best Pie and Pastie Competition, all held over the two-day event.
Baking Industry Association of Australia (BAA) executive officer Tony Smith says that the move to the Gold Coast was a success and that industry again strongly supported the show, now in its second year.
The National Conference heard from industry experts such as Anthony Donnellan, who spoke about national weights and measures, and Aparna Reddy, who spoke on origin labelling.
Barrister and adviser to the BAA Anton Duc also spoke at the conference. He addressed fair work laws, and new rates and loadings and says that the show was well attended.
“The show was very well put together and all the show participants were enthusiastic and keen to demonstrate their wares,” he says.
Next year, the Baking Industry Trade Show will return to Moonee Valley in Melbourne and will include an extra day, running from 4 – 6 June 2019.
The show will again run alongside the National Conference and will add the Excellence in Baking National Bake Off and Baking Awards Night to the line-up of events, which will again include Australia’s Best Pie and Pastie Competition.
