Fictional Hot Fellas Bakery is set to make the leap from the TV screen to real-life through a pop-up in Sydney later this month.

Hot Fellas Bakery will be familiar to fans of  the Sex and the City spinoff And Just Like That. In the TV show the bakery is the brainchild of character Anthony Marentino, and features modelsque men both staffing the bakery and making carb-loaded deliveries. Now, it is set to enjoy a real-life popup at Darlinghurst Square in Sydney from June 27-29.

It’s the second time the bakery has made the leap from the TV screen, with its inaugural popup taking place in NYC in early June to tie in with the bakery opening a bricks-and-mortar store in a recent episode of the show.

The Australian popup menu is set to feature uniquely Australian items, ranging from Vegemite babka to Golden Gaytime cream puffs and AP Buttermilk croissants in addition to a limited amount of themed merchandise.

The NYC popup saw actor Mario Cantone, who plays Hot Fellas Bakery owner Anthony Marentino in And Just Like That, make an appearance. According to The New York Times he lent a hand rolling croissants and also asked the crowd, “who wants a hot croissant?” complete with his character’s signature raised eyebrows, receiving a smattering of giggles from the group of fans that had gathered to see him.

HBO Max marketing vice president Dana Flax said the decision to host the popup had been made due to the fictional bakery establishing itself as a fan-favourite storyline.
