Introducing Botany to Turkish bagels, simit sandwiches, and handmade gozleme is Malika Bakehouse, the latest venture from the crew behind Middle Eastern restaurant Above Par.
Set in the old home of Deluca Coffee on Botany Road, the rustic warm orange tones and booth seating in this new Turkish eatery welcomes diners to stay for pastries, including baklava, borek, salty-seeded muffins called corek, savoury bread known as pogaca, and soft Turkish bagels, and six different types of brewed coffee.
The Malika team doesn’t stop at the fresh, authentic pastries either. You can order from a set breakfast and brunch menu, full of Turkish-style café meals like Simit Sandwiches, which is a national breakfast dish of Turkey; and a Kofte Plate, consisting of Turkish meatballs, bulghur rice, and lavash.
Between the authentic food and coffee offerings, the carefully-styled interior and ornate coffee cups, Malika Bakehouse will have you feeling like you’ve just stepped into an Istanbul café.
