Registrations are open for the 2024 The Great Australian Vanilla Slice Triumph Merbein.
Set to be held on August 17, 2024, this year the slice portion of the competition will consist of three categories: Professional, Amateur and Registered Kitchen Vanilla Slice.
The 2024 competition will see the inclusion of a number fruit cake and plum puddings sections, which will put the dried fruits grown in the region in the spotlight. The category was added for the 2023 event, and was met with great enthusiasm. Rounding out the day will be the Professional Fruit Mince Tart competition.
However, the hero of the day remains the vanilla slice. Last year saw North End Bakehouse Shepparton claim the top prize, with Sharp’s Bakery Birchip coming in second and Banana Boogie Bakery placing third.
The 2023 The Great Australian Vanilla Slice Triumph Merbein saw more than 8000 visitors head to Merbein.

Looking forward to attending this year (2024). I encourage as many bakeries to enter as possible. So many businesses grow from taking part in these competitive events.
