The Excellence in Baking is the pinnacle title for any apprentice baker or pastry cook, with the most excellent of young bakers awarded for their efforts.
The state finalists are provided with airfares and accommodation to compete at the National Titles in conjunction with the Baking Industry Trade Show, followed by the official announcement of National Winners at the BAA Excellence in Baking Awards Night—better known as a night with the champions!
This pinnacle of nights took place on Wednesday, May 26, where Crystal Lee Stewart (Brighton’s Best Bakehouse, Tasmania) was awarded ‘Australian Apprentice Pastry Cook of the Year’, and Lucas Staff took out ‘Australian Apprentice Baker of the Year’.
