Popular Perth-based eatery, Bread in Common, has expanded out and opened the nearby cafe, Common Bakery in Fremantle.

Featuring a house-made range of fresh bread including crusty white loaves, wholemeal, rye and multigrain sourdoughs, ciabatta and focaccias as well as sweet pastries and coffee, Common Bakery Fremantle is the third location for the business. There are also two Common Bakeries located in Nedlands.

Bread in Common first opened its doors in 2013. Located in an old boathouse that had been stripped back to the original red brick, the business garnered a reputation for their fantastic range.

Bakery manager Gabrielle Lewis has previously told Baking Business, “We follow simple, rustic, age-old recipes, craft traditionally and allow for natural, overnight fermentation”.

““Each loaf is hand-thrown and hand-shaped. You could definitely call our bread ‘slow’ bread. Using local, wheat-belt organic flour, small-batch milled, each dough is unique to each bread, with minimum yeast, sourdough and natural levens.”

The third Common Bakery shopfront opened its doors in early September, following a social media announcement in August, which was met with great excitement.
