A fundraising event for Foodbank Victoria will see big industry names like Natalie Paull of Beatrix join forces with Jack Muir-Rigby and Carmen Newton of Masses Bagels, Patchanida Chimkire of Mali Bakes, Amanda Lowrensa of Amande Bakery and Alex Courtney-Hatcher of Hatcher Baker to raise vital funds for the charity.
In August Foodbank Victoria held it’s first emergency food drive since the 2019/2020 bushfires, as the charity was running dangerously low on food.
To help out, Sunday, October 6 will see this group of Melbourne-based chefs band together for a one-day bake sale to help raise money for the organisation, which currently feeds about 65,000 people each day.
The event will be held at chef Steve Chan’s Hyphen Spaces – a retail space next to his Carlton North venue, sleepy’s.
Participating bakers and chefs will be contributing special items for the bake sale, with each ticket purchased for the event redeemable for two items. Proceeds, minus the cost of ingredients, will all go directly to Foodbank.
The Bake Sale for Foodbank event has been organised by chef Stephannie Liu in conjunction with Broadsheet Melbourne food and drink editor Audrey Payne.
