Pastry Chef Opens Yarraville Café

Popular English-Australian pastry chef Matt Forbes has opened Cobb Lane; a bakery-café in the Melbourne suburb of Yarraville.

Seating just 15 people, the 75sq m business is open for breakfast and lunch and serves authentic English fare, as well as bread, cakes and slices.

“The food will be inspired by my upbringing – simple things like my take on a full breakfast and cheese and pickle onion sandwiches,” Matt said.

“We’re producing our own sourdough bread, white sourdough, multigrain sourdough, light rye, fruit loaf, baguettes, toasted sesame seed and some specials here and there.”

After moving to Australia from Yorkshire in 2007, Matt has operated a wholesale pastry business, stocking pastries in a number of Melbourne cafés including Clement Coffee, Dukes Coffee Roasters, Twenty & Six Espresso and A Little Bird Told Me.
