The former owners of the iconic Paddock Bakery have announced a new Burleigh Heads bakery coming soon.

Works on Tarte Bakery & Café are in full swing, with owner Chloe Watts updating followers on the fit out process step-by-step on the new eatery’s Instagram and Facebook pages.

Situated near the top of James Street, Tarte has taken over the site that housed Italian restaurant Vecchia Roma for more than two decades.

They announced the new venue in a social media post on July 1.

“Ok… We can FINALLY announce we are opening up shop in the beautiful BURLEIGH HEADS! We decided to sell Paddock Bakery last year to chase a new dream and a new site, and we’ve been busy! That dreamy new site is located in the iconic Burleigh Heads on the corner of West Street. Set under loads of green, leafy trees and warm sunshine, so you can sit in bliss while you enjoy some house baked goodies. We can’t wait to give you more sneak peaks over the coming weeks.”

Although unconfirmed, it is expected the bakery and 100-plus-seat café will be ready for opening in early August.

The frontage features a big window through which customers will be able to view the bakers and pastry chefs at work, as well as a takeaway coffee window.

The look of the corner frontage bakery is inspired by New York and Paris and custom designed and made on the Gold Coast.

While details of the menu haven’t been released, they responded, “It’s certainly a possibility” when a Facebook follower asked if vanilla slice would be sold.
