Matt Preston asked for help to find North Melbourne’s best bakery, and the results are in—and wholly unsurprising to those in the know!
Earlier in April, the Masterchef judge and food critic put the call out via his Herald Sun column for readers to help him find the Best Bakery in Melbourne City, Stonnington, Caulfield and Port Phillip.
Country Cob Bakery’s Boronia store was the winner of the local talent search, taking home the title for Melbourne’s North.
Winning is nothing new for the bakery, which also has a store in Kyneton and one set to open soon at Springvale, with more than 200 awards handed to them over the years for their clearly incredible pies, pasties, sausage rolls, bread and vanilla slices.
Country Cob owner and head chef Chan Khun told the Northern Leader that winning still means a lot to the team.
“Winning the title helps our business a lot,” Chan said.
“It shows how our business has improved many folds in the last two or three years.”
The publication also identified the top five bakeries voted in the search for the best, with the French Quarter Patisserie, Beatrix, A Treat Of France and Ferguson Plarre Bakehouses coming second, third, fourth and fifth respectively.
