Marrickville locals are getting their stretchy pants out with the announcement they are getting a cult favourite donut shop in their suburb.
Redfern’s Donut Papi made the announcement via social media on October 17, with a post that simply read, “We’re coming for ya Marrickville”.
With over 45,000 followers on Instagram, it’s fair to say this gourmet donut brand is pretty popular among Sydney-siders, with bold new flavours (which have included Fireball whiskey, ube, Hojicha caramel, Yuzu raspberry, wasabi white chocolate and pandan coconut) constantly being released.
As part of a soft launch into Marrickville to meet the locals, Donut Papi had a popup on the weekend of October 23-24 at Kurumac Cafe, with exclusive Japanese inspired flavours like onigiri and cod roe omelette.
Donut Papi is the brainchild of siblings Kenneth and Karen Rodrigueza, and started in 2015 as a market stall, with their doughnuts quickly gaining a following. They opened their first permanent bakery in Redfern in December 2017.
