L’épi Bakery expands to Yarralumla

L’épi Bakery has opened its third location in Canberra, now serving the Yarralumla community at the Yarralumla Shops. This follows the successful launches of the original Chisholm store in late 2022 and a subsequent expansion to Kambah.

Owner and European-trained baker Ignace Diompy, who trained in France and Switzerland, brings traditional French baking techniques to the Australian market.

L’épi Bakery offers 13 varieties of sourdough, seasonal pastries, and cakes, all crafted with high-quality ingredients. Ignace expressed to Region Canberra the importance of community connection at the individual locations.

“I don’t want L’épi to be a Canberra bakery: I want us to be a Chisholm bakery, a Kambah bakery, a Yarralumla bakery,” Ignace said.

“Each of our bakeries is more than just a place to buy bread—it’s a space for connection, conversation, and celebrating the craft of baking.”

The new Yarralumla shop features a bright and airy interior with sage green accents, aligning with L’épi’s brand aesthetic.

While the space includes seating and a coffee machine, Ignace clarifies that the focus remains on producing exceptional baked goods: “I’m all about the bread!”

In line with its commitment to sustainability, L’épi Bakery sources ingredients from local farmers and suppliers.

The bakery also introduces a monthly seasonal pastry using local, in-season ingredients, such as the fig, almond, and honey Danish.
