Aha Café, a newly opened dessert lounge and French patisserie, has officially launched in Hyde Park, Inner City Adelaide. The venture is led by owner Silla He, whose inspiration for the concept came during a trip to Hong Kong.

Struck by the artistry and flavour of desserts she encountered abroad, Silla began developing the idea that would become Aha Café.

“I was so captivated by the flavours and presentation at a patisserie I visited there that I began dreaming up a new project,” Silla told Glam Adelaide.

In selecting a location, Hyde Park offered both the ambiance and opportunity.

“King William Road had a charming and relaxed vibe, but not many places open in the late afternoon or early evening,” Silla said.

The kitchen is led by Head Pastry Chef Alan Yeung, who brings classical training from France.

“His creations reflect traditional French patisserie with modern flair,” Silla said.

Signature dishes include the Lychee Mixed Berry Meringue Party—an entirely gluten-free and vegan dessert.

“It pairs lychee, raspberry and strawberry with a silky vanilla soy-based cream on top of a crisp, gluten free vegan meringue. It’s a colourful celebration on the plate that’s as light as it is indulgent,” Silla said.

Dietary considerations have been integral to Aha’s concept from the outset with a main focus on vegan and gluten-free.

“From the beginning, it was essential to us that Aha Cafe had high-quality desserts that catered to people with dietary needs,” Silla said.

Aha Cafe has been designed as a late-night destination as much as a patisserie.

“We saw an opportunity to create a space where people could enjoy refined desserts and enjoy going out well into the night,” Silla said.

“We wanted Aha to feel like a retreat, somewhere to connect and indulge in fine desserts.”
