The creators of one of Australia’s most Instagram famous cakes is serving up something extra special for Valentines Day.
Just when you thought it couldn’t possibly get any more beautiful, the strawberry watermelon cake from Black Star Pastry is available to purchase in an uber-romantic love heart shape just for the special day.
The colourful confection, created by Christopher ThΓ© and served up at Newtownβs Black Star PastryΒ has achieved notoriety β including a write up inΒ The New York TimesΒ β for its visual appeal which makes it perfect for the βgram.
The Strawberry Watermelon Cake consists of a slice of ripe, juicy watermelon between layers of soft almond dacquoise (meringue cake) and rosewater whipped cream, with a top decorated with strawberries, pistachios and dried rose petals, giving it its beautiful, bright appearance.
And as far as love and romance go, this cake has an extra special back story that makes it even more swoon-worthy, with ThΓ© originally creating the cake for a wedding. In line with the theme of the day, the main flavours (being strawberry, watermelon, rose, and pistachio) were inspired by the idea of romance. Black Star says theΒ combination of aromas and fresh ingredients evoke a range of emotions, turning each bite into a long-lasting memory.
Black Star’s other customer favourites include the refreshing Raspberry Lychee Cake, and the Pistachio Lemon Zen cake with white chocolate mousse.
The strawberry watermelon heart cake is priced at $36 and is available to buy in-store (Melbourne and Sydney) this Thursday, February 13 β Saturday, February 15, and it can also be pre-ordered online here.
