Following on from a successful state meet up in New South Wales, the Australian Society of Baking (ASB) has announced the date and location for its second event.

Members and non-members alike are invited to attend the networking event on June 15, which will be held at The Island from 5-7pm.

Board Member, Chair of communications & memberships committee Morgan Clementson said these state meet up events provided members with the opportunity to catch up with one another in a more relaxed setting.

“There’s fewer and fewer opportunities for bakers and industry members to network. Of course we have the trade shows, but everyone’s quite busy running around and we don’t really get a chance to catch up,” she said.

“We’re looking at ways we can really provide value for members of the ASB. We like to get together and talk about what’s happening in the industry. We have the conference once each year, so we thought ‘how can we bring it to the people?’.”

Morgan said the initial state meet up in Sydney, held at The Rocks, had proven successful and had even drawn original founding fathers to the harbour including Ken Packham and Wayne Rapp.

Introduced in 2026, the state events have provided an opportunity for the volunteer-run ASB to try something different.

“Last year we held the Members’ Brunch, but because the LA Judge competition was postponed we haven’t done that this year. We may hold one later this year,” Morgan said.

“We thought we’d try something different this year. The members spoke and we listened.”

Morgan said anyone in the industry was welcome to attend the state meet ups, not just ASB members.

“We encourage non members to come along and be part of this long standing association,” she said.

The third state meet up will be held in Victoria on July 27, with the location and date still to be announced.  Registrations and further information for the Queensland state meet up is available on the ASB website.
