Foodbank, Australia’s largest hunger relief organisation, has donated seven million serves of food to Australians in need through its Food Fight campaign.
Big brand names including Wonder White and Helga’s, Cadbury, Goodman Fielder, Parmalat, Nestlé, Patties Foods and Fonterra partnered with Foodbank to get behind the campaign.
Food Fight products are stocked in retail outlets across the country, with a donation made for every consumer purchase.
The organisation’s chief executive officer Jason Hinks said the campaign had reached its goal of raising seven million serves of food in its first year.
“This couldn’t have happened without the mighty support of our amazing food industry partners, suppliers, ambassadors and, of course, the public – who played their part in our fight against hunger in Australia,” he said.
The food donated during Food Fight will go towards helping to feed more than 500,000 people in Australia who access food relief each month, including low income families, the unemployed, the elderly and refugees.
