EOI and Vanrooy have announced the lucky winner of their pastry sheeter giveaway.

“A big congratulations to Tony Greven from Bakery On O’Connell on winning the EOI/Vanrooy Pastry Sheeter Promotion,” they said in a statement. 

“We had over 360 entries, so thank-you to everyone who took the time to enter.”

The prize, a brand new Tekno Stamap 614 Freestanding Pastry Sheeter to help with production and reduce labour costs, is valued at $10,900.

Tony said everyone at Bakery On O’Connell was thrilled with the win.

“We did everything humanly possible to win,” he said.

“The head bakers were pretty stoked when I rang them to tell them. It was very exciting.”

Tony said while they waited for the pastry sheeter to arrive discussions were also underway about potentially upgrading it to a fully automated version.

“We bought our last sheeter through Vanrooy and it’s quite a few years old now so it’s definitely time for an upgrade,” he says.

“We’re actually speaking to them (Vanrooy) at the moment because we need an upgrade and a bigger machine. What this means is now we can afford to go fully automatic. We’ll pay extra money for that, obviously, but that’s something we would’ve never looked at because they’re pretty expensive.

“That would help take some of the workload off the boys, because they can do other things and then go over to the sheeter, pick up the pastry and away they go.”

EOI and Vanrooy teamed up to promote the giveaway throughout the months of October and November, with entry requiring the purchase of six selected EOI margarines and shortenings in one order between October 19 and November 30.
