Perth bakery Backdoor Bakehouse has announced an expansion with a new commercial kitchen and online only store moving forward.
The bakery opened in February 2019 and got its name due to its small space, accessible to customers only via the back door. Now, they’re moving to a larger production space and moving to an online-only setup complete with a new name.
“Both the cafe and our bakery got busier than expected,” owners said in a statement.
“It was clear that we’d eventually need a bigger kitchen to improve production and with the cafe doing so well, they’d need their space back. In addition, our head baker had personal commitments which led to our decision to go on hiatus.
“During the hiatus we’ve recharged, reinvigorated and re-evaluated our goals. We’re grateful to everyone that made Backdoor Bakehouse possible, from the team to our customers. That being said, we’re buzzing to finally have our own commercial kitchen.
“Enough rambling. Time to invest all we’ve learned into Zonts Bakehouse — let’s roll.”
Zonts Bakehouse (from “croi-zonts”) will open in Subiaco for pre-order with delivery and pickup options available on weekends. While walk-ins will be a no-go for now, they say it is in the plans for the future.
