Australia’s ‘Pie Minister’ Robert DiPIErdomenico revealed his strategy to “keep the pie alive” as the Australia celebrates it’s favourite cuisine on National Pie Day on June 1.
The first day of winter coincided with the further relaxation of COVID-19 restrictions, meaning pie lovers could get out of “pie-solation” and get down to their favourite bakery for a hot and saucy meal.
New South Wales’ Southern Highlands is the official pie destination at this time of year, but due to coronavirus their pie event will be a virtual event instead. Pie Time will be held online on Friday, June 5 and will feature pies (naturally), beer and trivia.
Join local characters Thomas & Michael (the Crazy Barmen) as they put a humorous take on Southern Highlands’ Pies, whilst showcasing local brews and spirits that pair with their pies. They’ll also conduct a ‘Pie Trivia Quiz’ with some great Pie Time merchandise up for grabs.”
Ex-AFL legend Robert ‘Dipper’ DiPierdomenico was duly elected to represent the country’s pie-time celebrations.
His message to the people is to dig into a pie, even if you have to bake it yourself.
“Now that people can get out and about, just get around to any pie shop!”
That’s a message we can all get behind!
