Alexander Fleming from Baldy's Pies was crowned Supreme Champion at the 18th Annual British Pie Awards 2026 for his Chicken Kiev pie

A chicken kiev pie has taken out the Supreme Champion title at the 18th Annual British Pie Awards 2026.

The creation by Baldy’s Pies, which also won the Chicken & Vegetable/Herb Pie class, beat out 1040 other entries to take home the trophy.

According to British Baker, the pie was described as a “beautifully crafted pie with a pastry lid of panko [and] parsley with a hint of garlic, which makes the pie so interesting to look at” by the chief judge, who went on to add that it was “filled with melt-in-the-mouth tender chicken and had a very subtle flavour that did not overpower the natural flavours of the chicken”.

The Annual British Pie Awards 2026 consisted of 26 classes ranging from pork pie to steak & ale right through to vegan.

A panel of 187 experts judged the competition, taking into account the appearance, pastry, filling and baking of each pie.

Melton Pork Pie Association chairman and host of the British Pie Awards Matthew OÇallaghan said the awards continued to showcase the remarkable depth of talent, passion and creativity with the industry.

“From time-honoured regional recipes to bold and contemporary flavour combinations, this year’s entries demonstrate just how firmly the pie remains at the heart of British food culture,” he said according to British Baker.

“As this year’s Supreme Champion, Baldy’s represents the very pinnacle of craftsmanship and innovation, a true celebration of quality ingredients, skill and dedication.”
