Camp Hill’s neighbourhood favourite, Florence cafe, is expanding its horizons to specialty baked goods. Nestled in a white 1930’s cottage that once housed a historic old corner store, Florence boasts a nourishing seasonal menu and locally roasted coffee, as well as a café deli, where customers can purchase house made preserves, condiments and ferments. While it’s local and sustainable produce is a big draw card, it’s Florence’s selection of baked goods that has won the hearts of locals. Since opening in 2018, Florence’s cakes, biscuits and sweet pastries have become a business staple.
With this sweet success, owners Elizabeth Florence and Sam Pethely are soon to announce bakery ‘Floss’ at the end of July. Launching off Florence’s success, Floss will cater for special occasion cakes and goodies, as well as fulfilling the craving for a casual sweet treat. Like Florence’s menu, Floss will feature a seasonal range of goodies using fresh and local ingredients. From traditional treats like filled doughnuts, Monte Carlo biscuits and finger buns to sweet little bar cakes, Floss’s range is set to be a winner.
The team at Florence have installed a dedicated pastry kitchen at the rear of the café, where a crew of talented pastry chefs will design and create a host of alluring baked goods. Floss’s range will be available to both retail and wholesale customers through online order, and a select number of boutique Brisbane cafes will also be stocking a range of Floss sweet treats. A pick up option will also be available from Florence Café.
