A small North Queensland town has been left shocked after the owner of a local bakery tragically passed. Stuart Burnside runs Charters Towers popular Burnzie’s Bakehouse which was the iconic local bakery in town.
Stuart tragically passed away after suffering an asthma attack which led to him going into cardiac arrest last Thursday. In a touching tribute when she spoke to the Townsville Bulletin his wife Bekky remembered her husband as “the best bloke in any room.”
“He loved his golf, fishing, trying any new products I’d make at the shop,” she said.
“He also had two daughters, Rhiannon and Caeleigh, and raised Taylar (my daughter) like his own.”
News of his passing left many people in town in shock which prompted many messages of condolences and happy memories of the bakery and Stuart.
One regular patron said of Stuart “He was always happy and brought a smile to my face.”
A funeral service will be held for Mr Burnside at Charters Towers Golf Club on Thursday, April 11 at 10am, followed by a private cremation.
