Black Star opens new shopfront in Sydney CBD

Black Star Pastry is starting a new chapter as it opens its new shopfront in Sydney’s CBD this weekend.

On the ground floor at The Galeries, just two floors down from its old Books Kinokuniya cake shop, your coffee, cake and croissants are more conveniently located than ever.

Black Star has a worldwide following with the New York Times declaring its famous Strawberry Watermelon Cake “the world’s most Instagrammed cake”.

Christopher Thé’s Strawberry Watermelon Cake consists of a slice of ripe, juicy watermelon between layers of soft almond dacquoise (meringue cake) and rosewater whipped cream, with a top decorated with strawberries, pistachios and dried rose petals, giving it its beautiful, bright appearance.

Black Star’s other customer favourites include the refreshing Raspberry Lychee Cake, the Pistachio Lemon Zen cake with white chocolate mousse, and the black truffle toastie.

In addition to the new Sydney store, Black Star’s Melbourne store is delivering its cakes every Saturday and Sunday to homes within a 30km radius of the CBD to ensure Melbournians’ snacks are Insta-worthy even in isolation.

Orders just need to be placed by midnight the day before delivery. Delivery is a flat-rate $15 or free on cake orders over $100. You can order as little as four portions or up to 45 portions of some cakes for really hungry households.
