Ferguson Plarre Bakehouse CEO Steve Plarre has embraced his performative side, turning on the razzle dazzle in a series of fun videos released on the company’s social media pages for a competition.
Taking hit songs and making them bakery-relevant, like “I Will Serve Pies” to the tune of the Gloria Gaynor classic “I Will Survive”, and “Getting’ Veggie With It” to Will Smith’s “Gettin’ Jiggy With It” among others voted for by customers, Plarre is obviously having a great time with the productions.
The competition has a prize pack with five $50 Ferguson Plarre voucher up for grabs.
The latest song celebrates the iconic Victorian business’ recent release of its new plant-based pies and sausage rolls.
Plarre recently made the switch to a plant-based diet himself, directing the creation of the new menu additions.
“These days people are trying to eat less meat but they still want to enjoy pies and sausage rolls. We’re excited to answer the call of the wild for more plant-based options – especially two Aussie family favourites,” he told Inside Franchise Business.
The plant-based Aussie Pie centres on chickpeas, with wheat, garlic, onion, and herbs and spices. In the sausage roll it’s the combination of shitake mushrooms, carrots, potatoes, onions, chickpeas, garlic, onions and a secret blend of herbs and spices making a delicious alternative for those going meat-free.
The business has been testing products for 14 months, adapting the traditional family recipes to suit the modern consumer and winning support from animal group and Ferguson Plarre goodwill partner, PETA.
Growing concerns over animal welfare and climate change have fast-tracked Australia to third spot in the world’s fastest-growing markets for vegan food.
