Eastern Sydney will now get to enjoy Dulwich Hill favourite bakery/patisserie locally, as Baked by Kieran opens a new bakery in Elizabeth Bay.

Opening on May 8, just in time for Mother’s Day, the Elizabeth Bay store will offer pastry chef and owner Kieran McKay’s famous 72-hour sourdough, viennoiserie, sausage rolls, pies, canele, millefeuille, and sweet tart varieties.

French trained McKay opened the originally wholesale only Dulwich Hill bakery in 2017, and announced the new location in a Facebook post on May 6.

“We are thrilled to announce we are opening our second site this Friday!

“We have been working very hard over the past few months getting ready to bring our bread and pastries to another part of Sydney.

“Thanks to our amazing and loyal customers and the increased demand, we have made the decision to open up a second site as we just can’t bear the thought of anyone missing out.

“Our doors open this Friday at 6:30am sharp and we look forward to welcoming everyone!”

Although McKay could only open for takeaway due to the COVID-19 restrictions still in place in NSW, the Friday opening was celebrated with free coffee with any bakery purchase for healthcare workers as a token of appreciation.

“I think we can all agree these are very trying times,” the bakery posted to Facebook.

“Parents having to juggle working from home/parenting and homeschooling, people being cooped up on their own with no one to talk to, people needing to stay home due the pandemic when home is not a safe place for them, businesses going under after a lifetime of hard work and overall just fighting a foe we cannot see. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

“We wanted to be able to give something back to the community and in particular our amazing health care workers who are putting themselves at risk every day to ensure our safety.
