The Punk Princess of Pastry, Anna Polyviou, took out Chef of the Year at the 2017 Tourism Accommodation Australia Awards.
The 20th annual Accommodation Awards for Excellence were held on Thursday, July 20 in Sydney and one of our own took out joint winner of The Chef of the Year 2017 Award. Renowned pastry chef Anna Polyviou from the Shangri-La Sydney won the award jointly with Dany Karam of The Star Sydney.
Tourism Accommodation Australia chairman, Peter Tudehop said on the night, βTonightβs awards continue to demonstrate the world-class product we have in New South Wales and the committed and passionate people working in our industry.β
Anna is known at the Shangri-La Sydney for her High Tea, dessert station at CafΓ© Mix, treats at Lobby Lounge and the Horizon Club, and inventive in-room dining menus.
Sheβs also the mastermind behind Sydneyβs biggest dessert event of the year, Sweet Street, as well as the hotelβs annual Christmas Spectacular, both big deals on Sydneyβs events calendar.
Recently, Annaβs appeared as a guest judge on MasterChef Australia where she challenged contestants to create her Firecracker dessertβa cartoon themed creation with a sparkler in the tail. Annaβs also just been announced as a judge on Nineβs new prime-time cooking competition, Family Food Fight.
