Danielle Lindsay, from Aussie Pie Council said “The Official Great Aussie Pie Competition is a great opportunity for bakers, pastry cooks, chefs, and caterers to be recognised for their pie, sausage roll, and pastie making talents.”
Dani also reflected on how the Great Aussie Pie Comp has raised the bar for pies and pastries.
“Every year we see improvements from entrants based on the feedback they received from the previous year’s judges. This makes us happy because we really feel as though we’re making a difference in the standards of pie-making,” she said.
The Official Great Aussie Pie Competition is recognised as one of longest-running pie competitions in Australia.
Last year’s competition had a remarkable display of talents. The Plain Meat Pie Title was awarded to the Paradise Bakehouse based in Queensland. The Gourmet Pie was won by Rolling Pin Pies & Cakes in Victoria. The Plain Sausage Roll award was taken home by Jack’s bakery in Western Australia. Lastly, the Pastie title was given to Banana Boogie Bakery in South Australia.
Celebrating years of culinary tradition, this will be the 35th year, the competition is held. The 2024 competition will be a focal point of Fine Food Australia, which will be held in Melbourne from September 2-5 at Melbourne Convention Exhibition Centre.
