LTT Patisserie was named Champion Cake/Pastry of the Show for their caramel slice

On July 25 some of Queensland’s best headed to Brisbane’s Albion Park for the Queensland Baking Show.

The event, which was held at Albion Park Paceway, proved to be a great day for everyone involved.

Luke Moy from Coles Casurina took home the Champion Loaf of the Show and Queensland Baking Show Perpetual Trophy titles, along with first prizes in the 680g White Hi-Top Half Married, 450g Wholemeal Cob, 680g Grain Loaf Condensed Square, and Sourdough Rye classes.

LTT Patisserie from Acacia Ridge was awarded the Champion Cake/Pastry of the Show for their caramel slice, and also claimed first prize in the sausage roll and pasties classes.

Rays Patisserie also had a successful competition, winning the 680g White Loaf Condensed Square, Gourmet Pull-apart Loaf, plain meat pies, chunky beef pies, gourmet pies, and decorated mud cake classes.

Baking Association of Australia executive officer Tony Smith said, “the Queensland Baking Show was a great success with the new venue proving to be a hit with everyone involved during the days’ judging and the awards night in the evening.”

“Congratulations to all the winners.”

Queensland apprentice Christina Zavialov from Creative Crusts/Uncle Bobs was also presented with the Excellence in Baking (bread) trophy at the event.

When sharing the news Creative Crusts said, “we are so excited and extremely proud to announce that our apprentice Christina has been crowned Australia’s best apprentice bread baker.”

“Christina competed in a live bake off competition with other apprentices from around Australia producing a range of breads, artisan breads, savoury and sweet breads and rolls over a strict production time period, testing skill, knowledge, and time management – a comprehensive test for any young baker.

“Congratulations to Christina who put in an incredible amount of work and training, and all of our wonderful team who have shared their knowledge, and helped train and support her in her quest to become the best baker she can be.”
