World Pastry Cup winners stand on a podium

The initial details for the 2025 Pastry World Cup Grand Final have been revealed.

Set to be held at SIRHA Lyon, the grand final will take place on January 24 and 25, 2025.

The competition will see candidates focus on the theme national heritage.

Pastry World Cup president Pierre Hermé said the world’s pastry industry is at a crossroads.

“It has arguably never been more attentive about taste than it is about appearance,” he said.

“To successfully navigate this change of era and paradigm – and at the exact same instant when confectionery is reaching the height of popularity on social networks and prime time TV shows – the Pastry World Cup needed to embrace a more socially and environmentally responsible approach.”

The Pastry World Cup was created in 1989, and currently sees teams of three people – a pastry chef, chocolate maker and an ice cream maker – to take on the various tests, which are in line with contemporary issues.

The 20 teams will be put to the test. Each will have nine hours to create 3+9 tasting desserts and three artistic pieces before presenting them to the jury. This year Amaury Guichon will be the honorary president and president of the jury.

The teams already confirmed for the 2025 include:

  • Egypt
  • Mauritius
  • Morocco
  • Argentina
  • Chile
  • Colombia
  • Paraguay
  • Belgium
  • France
  • Italy
  • Switzerland
  • UK

The teams from Asia will be announced following an upcoming selection.
