Women in Foodservice

Fine Food Australia has announced the Women in Foodservice Charity Event will return in September
for its fifth year.

Since launching in 2014, the event has connected women in the industry, and provided a platform for networking and inspiration among like-minded peers.

Taking place on Wednesday 12 September, this year’s gourmet brunch will be held at Aerial on Dukes Walk, where a panel of industry icons will discuss all areas of the food industry and what it means to be a successful woman within it. Facilitated by Australian journalist and food author, Dani Valent, the panel’s speakers include:

Sharlee Gibb, founder of Fully Booked Women, a social community which celebrates women in the food and drinks industry.

Shannon Martinez, head chef and co-owner, Smith & Daughters.

Melissa Leong, television and radio presenter, MC, and food and travel journalist and editor.

Katy Barfield, founder of YUME Food.

Jo Barrett, award-winning co-executive chef of Oakridge Wines.

The Women in Foodservice Charity Event donates all profits from the day to two charities: Feed Melbourne and Eat Up.

Minnie Constan, Fine Food Australia Event Director, welcomes the Women in Foodservice Charity Event back as an essential part of the show. “Celebrating the women in our industry with the Women in Foodservice Charity Event encapsulates everything that Fine Food Australia is about: learning, discovering, exploring and networking. We’re thrilled to be celebrating the women in our industry for a fifth year as we continue to drive the discussion of what’s important for our industry’s development.”

Following last year’s success, the Women in Foodservice Awards, run by foodservice and hosted by editor Anita Connors, will also return as part of the event. The awards are presented in six categories: Outstanding Service, Restaurant Manager of the Year, Chef of the Year, Rising Star, Leadership in Foodservice and Legend of the Industry.
