On August 20 bakers from across New South Wales headed to Wollongong to take part in the Baking Association of Australia’s (BAA) Wollongong Baking Show.
Held at Illawarra TAFE at North Wollongong, bakers and pastry chefs battled it out across the 30 classes.
The Perpetual Trophy was awarded to William Nicolau from Bakers Delight Mittagong, while Bakers Delight Bowral was awarded Most Successful Bread Exhibitor. The Bakers Delight Bowral team took home first prize for 450g Grain Cob – Baked on a Tray and 450g Fruit Loaf Hi Top.
Troy Hindmarch from Parfait Patisserie was awarded the Champion Loaf of the Show, while Damo Wright, also from Parfait Patisserie, took home the trophy for Champion Cake / Pastry of the Show. William Nickl from Gumnut Patisserie continued on with his winning streak by taking out the Most Successful Cake Exhibitor. In recent months William has competed as part of Team Australia for the ANZBAke competition and has been named on the WorldSkills Australia national training squad.
