Western Australia’s best and brightest bakers celebrated with a Gala Dinner and Awards Night in June.
One-hundred-and-twenty guests attended the gala dinner and awards night for the Baking Industry Employers Association of Western Australia (BIEAWA) 2018 Baking Industry Awards at Pagoda Resort and Spa, Como at the end of June.
Calls for entries went out in February and were judged in May by experts across pastry and bread.
Ron Adams from BIEAWA says, “The judging takes a complete day with approximately 30 volunteers, which include judges, stewards and markers.”
The awards, now in their fifth year, are the premier baking awards in Western Australia. Categories included, but were not limited to, pastries and cakes such as eclairs and gateaux; pies; and loaves such as Vienna Loaf and Devon Condensed White.
Ron said increased participation and the quality and standard of the entries stood out this year.
“It is anticipated that the WA Baking Industry Awards will become the premier baking industry awards in Australia,” says Ron.
