Popular bagel bakery UE Bagels has officially opened the doors to its new location in Palm Beach on Queensland Gold Coast.

Although technically a relocation for the business, which has had a presence in the suburb since 2023 and currently has three shopfronts, the newest store has seen UE Bagels take over the former Well Bread & Pastry site and transform it into its largest store to date.

According to IndailyQld UE Bagels’ original site is located nearby but the building has been on a demolition clause for some. UE Bagels owners Mitchell Barling and Emily Hugo decided to get on the front foot, and at the start of 2026 made the decision to find a permanent location for the business.

UE Bagels Palm Beach store manager Dylan Walker told The Gold Coast Bulletin it was bittersweet to leave their old site, but they were all really excited for the next chapter.

“Palm Beach itself is such a unique community. No two people are the same and I really enjoy getting to know the locals and everyone who walks through our doors,” he said, adding they had known of the potential development plans for the previous site when they first signed the lease.

“We wanted to see if Palm Beach had the potential to become our long term home, but there was always a level of uncertainty hanging over the site.

“We were never given a clear end date for our leave, but because of the uncertainty surrounding the development, we were never given the opportunity to commit long term only being able to sign a one-year lease each time.”

The new Palm Beach store is effectively double the previous space. Drawing on inspiration from New York for the interior design the store has seating for up to 75 people across the open plan interior while outside you will find scattered picnic tables and bar stools. The additional space also means it’s anticipated the store will become the main baking hub for all three UE Bagels stores.

The Palm Store location officially opened its doors on May 17, 2026.
