June saw the very first Baking Industry Trade show held at Moonee Valley Racecourse in Melbourne. The three days baking brilliance event saw bakers, pastry chefs and chocolatiers flock to Melbourne to see the latest and greatest in the industry.
Baking Association of Australia Executive Officer Tony Smith said the show was a success, and that people had travelled from all over Australia to be a part of it.
The Vanrooy Bakery and Patisserie Theatre and Unox Live Baking stage saw bakers and pastry chefs demonstrating the latest equipment on the market. Three days of baking brilliance, some of the talent included Jonny Pisinell, Pascal Janvier, Elaine Young, Christopher Thé and Jessica Pedemont.
Jessica said, “It’s important to run these events to bring the presentation to the people in a formal setting where the prospective customer can meet the providers in a central location all at once, see the equipment hopefully in action, and talk to the representatives. Shopping online and from catalogues is just not enough most of the time… particularly for the big-ticket items.”
The show was also home to a Wedding Cake Competition, Australia’s Best Pie and Pastie Competition and Industry National Conference.
The 2018 Baking Industry Trade Show will be held next year at The Gold Coast.
