Following the shock closure of their Cremorne flagship store, Melbourne-based Tarts Anon has announced the opening date for their new bakery.
The new Richmond flagship store is set to open its doors on Saturday, June 21. The occasion will be marked by the launch of a new addition to the menu – a pistachio St Honore tart, featuring choux pastry, caramelised pastry, and pistachio creme mousseline.
The pistachio St Honore will be available for Tarts Anon Richmond’s first week of trading.
Tarts Anon co-founder and MasterChef Australia Dessert Masters winner Gareth Whitton previously said the closure of the business’s flagship store in Cremorne was due to the building being sold.
“We have chosen not to dwell on specifics and are trying to get into a new site as soon as possible,” he said, adding the new site offered a bit more in terms of both space and capacity.
” We’re hoping to be able to do some new menu items to add a little more excitement,” he said.
“When time allows, I’m planning on developing some of those new products.”
Although the new Richmond location is roughly the same size as the former Cremorne site, Gareth told Broadsheet the Tarts Anon team would be able to make better use of it. There will be some outdoor seating as well as a glassed-in kitchen that will allow customer to watch on as the pastry chefs work.
Despite the unexpected move, Gareth said it had been something of a blessing in disguise given that bakeries like Baker Bleu and Hector’s Bakery have both opened their doors in Cremorne in recent months.
