January 30 saw apprentices from around NSW gather at the TAFE NSW Hamilton Campus for the Excellence in Baking state round.
Jasper Jobarteh took home the NSW Apprentice Baker title, while Lewis Coombes claimed the NSW Apprentice Pastry Chef trophy.
Both Jasper and Lewis will now compete and represent New South Wales at the Grand Final, which will be held in Sydney in July at The Baking Industry Trade Show.
The 2025 National Excellence in Baking award winners will travel to New Zealand to take part in the ANZBake competition.
BAA executive officer Tony Smith said the Excellence in Baking competition was one of the most prestigious events for the baking industry.
“… it promotes some of the best apprentices we have across Australia,” he said.
The next round of the Excellence in Baking competition will take place in Queensland on February 4, and then in Victoria on February 17 (bread) and 18 (pastry).
Further information about the competition can be found on the BAA website.
