NSW bakery closes for deep cleaning amid COVID fears

A country NSW bakery has closed its doors for deep cleaning amid COVID fears, as it’s revealed a holidaying Victorian family visited a number of locations before testing positive.

Trappers Bakery in Goulburn announced it would be closed Wednesday and Thursday in accordance with Health Department guidelines. A popular stopping point for travellers driving between Sydney and Melbourne via the Hume Highway, the bakery was one of a number of locations of concern within a 300 km radius.

The Victorian man and his family stopped at Trappers on May 24 on their way back to Melbourne. Although he developed COVID-19 symptoms on May 25, he did not get tested until six days later—after the state went into lockdown.

Trappers Bakery posted on Facebook that they were looking forward to reopening, and thanked customers for their continued support.

“We would like to thank everyone for your kind messages of support today,” the post read.
“Our restaurant will be closed Thursday as we continue to work with NSW Health in following their guidelines and procedures to ensure our staff, our customers and our community is safe.
“For further updates and any concerns please contact www.nsw.gov.au/covid-19/latest-news-and-updates
“Trappers Bakery is a long-established, family-owned local business priding ourselves on great Australian values, delivering the best service and products to our local customers and visitors to the region.
“We’re looking forward to reopening our doors as soon as possible and serving up our famous Trappers pies and delightful sweet treats.”
