Next Stop: Sydney
The country’s baking community is preparing for its mid-year catch up at the Australian Society of Baking (ASB) conference, cocktail party and industry study tour.
Once again, a respected group of presented have been lined up to keep industry on top of emerging trends, such as gluten-free baking, alternative flours, and paddock-to-plate production.
Last year’s Sydney J Packham medal winner and Gumnut Patisserie baker Samantha Trotter will also discuss her adventurous scholarship to Europain, and her culinary adventures throughout Paris and Lille, France.
The industry tour will take a number of Sydney’s most innovative baking businesses, including Italian bakehouse Nonna’s, and natural frozen dough product manufacturer The Original Croissant Gourmet. Alexandria favourite Textbook Boulangerie Patisserie, which has gone from strength to strength since Steve Anderson and John Ralley opened the doors last year, is also on the line up.
More stops on the tour will be announced, so check the ASB website for up-to-date information (australiansocietyofbaking.com.au/conference-may-2016).
The tour bus will also stop off to view the Australian Export Grains Innovation Centre (AEGIC) LA Judge contestants as they present the academic section of their competition entry.
